In 1984 Frank Zappa released Francesco Zappa.

The liner notes said that music was of a certain Francesco Zappa (active between 1763 and 1788) and that it was his first digital recording in more than 200 years.
Frank’s supporters were well aware of his boundless humour and was therefore quite natural for many to think of an alter-ego, created to make his bizarre musical excursion within the late Baroque more intriguing.

Even today some reviews of Francesco Zappa published on the Internet describe its tracks as if they were written by Frank.

Indeed, Francesco Zappa really lived and wrote much more music beyond that rearranged in the posthumous record.
